Support covers the knee joint together with adjoining thigh and lower leg region (approx. 21cm above and approx. 18cm below the middle of the knee). The strongly pre-shaped support fits tightly to the thigh or lower leg region even when the knee is fully bent. The knee-cap padding, thickness 13 mm, also covers the lateral muscle attachments (head of the fibula, condyle). The padding of the adjoining joint region has a thickness of 10 mm. The padding consists of homogeneous neoprene with an optimum shock absorption curve to reduce the impact of forces acting on the joint, such as knocks, falls, kicks and shocks etc. The KEVLAR® coating for the padding prevents frictional heat (caused by slipping etc.) from igniting or melting the neoprene. The mechanical support elements (steel springs), are held in pockets on the sides, and in conjunction with the two 50 mm wide straps (above and below) perceptibly stabilize the knee joint. In addition, the patellar tendon strap can be used effectively for greater control of the "drawer effect".
